Does PetSmart Accept Checks In 2022? (Your Full Guide)

Checks can come across as quite handy if you are not carrying any cash or your payment cards and need to pay for your purchases at retail stores.

So if you’re out to buy a pet at PetSmart and forgot to bring your payment cards, you may be wondering – does PetSmart accept checks? Here is what I’ve discovered through my research!

Does PetSmart Accept Checks In 2022?

PetSmart only accepts personal checks as of 2022, provided you show a valid form of photo ID. Customers cannot use alternative checks such as business, payroll, or cashier’s checks. Instead, customers can pay for goods using a credit card, debit card, PayPal, cash, or PetSmart gift card.

If you want to learn more about other forms of payment PetSmart accepts, whether PetSmart accepts contactless payments, and much more, keep on reading!

What Forms Of Payment Does PetSmart Accept?

PetSmart currently accepts a broad range of modern payment methods such as credit and debit cards, PayPal, cash, and PetSmart gift cards both in-store and online.

The following list includes accepted credit and debit card providers:

  • Discover
  • PayPal
  • PetSmart gift cards
  • VISA
  • MasterCard
  • VISA gift cards
  • MasterCard gift cards
  • American Express

What Forms Of Payment Are Not Accepted At PetSmart?

PetSmart does not currently allow Layaway Plans, which allow customers to pay a deposit on an item and contribute small installments over a period of time.

Additionally, cash on delivery (CODs) is unacceptable at all PetSmart stores, and customers must purchase all products sold by PetSmart upfront.

Other than that, keep in mind that merchandise return cards are only valid for in-store purchases, and cannot be used to place online orders.

Does PetSmart Accept Contactless Payments?

PetSmart accepts contactless payments at its checkout counters.

If your credit or debit card displays the contactless symbol, you may hover your card over the reader to complete transactions.

However, be aware that some card providers limit single contactless transactions to around $45, so you may need to insert your card for greater amounts.

Alternatively, you can upload your credit or debit card to Apple Pay or Google Pay. These are activated using a smartphone or digital watch and do not usually limit singular spends.

Along with that, customers can also make contactless payments using the PayPal app.

Does PetSmart Do Payment Plans?

PetSmart does not directly accept payment plans, however, customers can use a third-party app called Quadpay to purchase PetSmart supplies.

This app can be used in any store that accepts Visa payments (including PetSmart) and will split your initial cost down to 4 increments that you must pay over a 6 week period.

Conclusion

PetSmart only accepts personal checks, provided you bring a government-issued photo ID. However, it cannot take business, payroll, cashier’s, and other types of checks.

Alternatively, customers may use debit or credit cards by Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express, as well as cash, PayPal, or a PetSmart gift card to make purchases.

Note that you cannot use Layaway plans or CODs, or use merchandise return cards online.
